Choir of the Cathedral St. Bavo Haarlem goes USA

The Choir of the Cathedral St. Bavo Haarlem will embark on a Thank You Tour because of the 75 years of freedom. The musical singers want to express their deep gratitude to the American people and in special US-veterans of all generations. They will perform music from Karl Jenkins, Ola Gjeilo, Franz Biebl, Michal Tippett, Jonathan Dove and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.

The Dutch minister of Defense committed the regimental orchestra ‘Grenadiers en Jagers’ to accompany the choir. Minister Ank Bijleveld is planning to deliver a speech to the veterans present in Washington. His Royal Highness King Willem-Alexander offers the children of the Choir of the Cathedral St. Bavo Haarlem his personal message, for them to convey to the US-veterans.

The freedom in Western Europe has lasted 75 years and hopefully many more to come. Eighty five grateful singers, and 22 military musicians cannot wait to perform in Washington and New York during their spring break. These concerts of the renowned Choir of the Cathedral St. Bavo Haarlem are the only initiative of its kind in the United States to celebrate the 75 year remembrance in The Netherlands.

The Thank You Concerts are organized in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Washington, and many others.
